About Place To Write
Writing is a medium of communication that represents language through the inscription of signs and symbols.
In most languages, writing is a complement to speech or spoken language.
Motivations for writing include publication, storytelling, correspondence and diary.
Within a language system, writing relies on many of the same structures as speech, such as vocabulary, grammar and semantics, with the added dependency of a system of signs or symbols, usually in the form of a formal alphabet.
The result of writing is generally called text, and the recipient of text is called a reader.
Therefore, writing is not a language but a form of technology.
Based on this fact we’ve tried to conceive and develop a better way to use this fabulous technology called writing. We’ve researched, talked to writers, creatives, scientists, students, regular folk and the crazy ones.
We’ve prototyped, got inspired, frustrated and blocked. We’ve finally came up with needed concept, with the base idea. There are many writing tools but what writers really need is a good place to write.
For the creative, the junior, the senior, the discrete, the obsessed, the hipster, the geek or just for yourself... we’ve created a Place to Write..

We've released a couple of minor updates to Place To Write in order to fix some problems reported by our users. The MacOS X version had an issue with horizontal margins that were cutting text in some specific resolutions while the iPad version had an interface issue that didn't made the users perceive that they needed to rotate the device to landscape mode in order to write. We're working in a new iPad version that will bring auto-detection of bluetooth/external keyboards that will automatically hide the on-screen keyboard.
Since the launch of the Mac version, many users have come to us requesting an iOS version and a Windows version. Today, we can reveal that an iOS version is on the making and should be out during the first quarter of 2016. Haven for iOS will feature all the same ambiances that are offered on the MacOS, as well as the same features, tools and some other perks. This version will support iCloud and Dropbox to easily allow the sync with the OS X. Also, it will support MARKDOWN! This will imply a new release of the OS X version that will also bring markdown, auto-save and Dropbox compatibility. So stay tuned for many news and gifts during 2016! Happy writings!
